Building & Equipment Assistant

OXFORD PALLET & RECYCLERS LTD.

Job Overview
Reporting to the Equipment Manager, the Building & Equipment Assistant supports the maintenance, repair, servicing, and general upkeep of Oxford Pallet & Recyclers Ltd.’s yard and processing equipment and facility.

This is a hands-on support role requiring strong knowledge of tools, equipment, safe work practices, and basic mechanical troubleshooting. The Building & Equipment Assistant plays an important role in reducing downtime, maintaining equipment reliability, and supporting the overall condition of the yard, shop and buildings.

 

Duties

  • Equipment Maintenance & Repair Support

  • Assist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, repairs, and servicing of company equipment, including:

 

Preventive Maintenance & Equipment Reliability

  • Hours are 7am to 4pm, pre shift or post shift required as needed.

  • Assist with preventive maintenance inspections and servicing of equipment and facility systems.

  • Complete routine checks, cleaning, greasing, and lubrication as directed.

  • Monitor equipment and facility condition and report concerns to the Equipment Manager.

  • Help maintain accurate maintenance records and service history.

  • Grinders and colourizing equipment

  • Loaders, excavators, telehandlers, forklifts, and other material handling equipment

  • Conveyors and processing systems

  • Assist with lubrication, adjustments, cleaning, installation, fabrication, and component replacement.

  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues.

  • Assist with welding and fabrication tasks as required.

  • Respond quickly to equipment issues to help reduce operational downtime.

 

Experience

  • Strong knowledge of tools, equipment, and basic mechanical systems.

  • Experience in a shop, yard, equipment, manufacturing, agricultural, construction, or industrial environment.

  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to assist with equipment maintenance and repairs.

  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment.

  • Reliable, safety-focused, and willing to work in a hands-on environment.

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under company policy.

 

Preferred / Assets:

  • Experience with heavy equipment, grinders, loaders, excavators, telehandlers, or forklifts.

  • Welding or fabrication experience.

  • Basic hydraulic, electrical, or mechanical troubleshooting experience.

  • Experience in yard, wood processing, grinding, or manufacturing operations.

 

Pay: $26.00-$29.00 per hour

Expected hours: 44.0 per week
